LEGAL ASSISTANT
Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. Issuing out instructions to external counsels to institute recovery suits against defaulting clients. Maintain a register of all claims, suits and assignments in a prescribed format. Reviewing suit documents to ensure the same are accurate. And ensuring a timely update on the progress of the suits and assisting in debt recovery processes. Taking up the role of witnessing and attesting on behalf of the company. Assist in reviewing progress of outstanding litigation. Managing and liaising with external counsels on all matters litigation and attending court as and when required. Offer legal support to debt collection team and other business departments and offer advisory on the matters as may be required. Preparation, drafting and review of settlement agreements, contracts and other legal documents. Coordinate and track any key legal dates including contract renewals and relevant deadlines. Help prepare documents for regulatory filings and compliance reports. Assist with corporate governance tasks, including maintaining corporate records, board minutes, and filings. Manage and organize the company’s legal documentation, ensuring all records are up-to-date and compliant with company policies and regulations. Provide general administrative support to the legal team, including scheduling meetings, preparing presentations and handling internal communication. Any other duties assigned.
LEGAL OFFICER - (Litigation)
Provide expert legal advice and support to management and other departments on a wide range of legal issues, including litigation, disputes, contract interpretation and regulatory compliance. Manage any legal disputes or claims and prepare legal documentation. Monitor ongoing litigation and provide regular updates on the status of cases, risks and outcomes. Develop litigation strategies and manage risk exposure to minimize any legal liabilities. Represent the company in court hearings and legal proceedings as necessary. Oversee the handling of legal complaints, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, timely and effective responses and escalation as needed. Working closely with external legal counsels for any outsourced legal services, ensuring service quality, cost effectiveness and timely delivery of work. Conduct legal research and stay up to date with relevant legal developments, regulations and trends affecting the business. Attending various meetings and ensuring production of high-quality paperwork by preparing the agenda, papers and meeting minutes. Attending the briefing meetings of the various departments and disseminating the matters arising and required action points. Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts, agreements and other relevant legal documents, to safeguard the company’s interest. Proper filing and maintenance of contract database/registry and conduct checks to ensure it is up to date. Assess legal risks across various business areas and implement strategies to prevent and mitigate potential liabilities. Conduct training for internal teams on legal matters to ensure ongoing awareness and adherence to policies and procedures. Any other duties assigned.
LEGAL OFFICER - (Regulatory Compliance)
Provide timely, effective, and practical legal advice to senior management and various business units on a wide range of legal issues, with a focus on compliance, regulatory matters, and business operations. Ensure the company’s operations comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, especially those related to microfinance and fintech institutions. Conduct research into governance and regulatory compliance and monitor changes in the regulatory landscape. Drafting legal opinions on a wide range of compliance aspects in respect of new or amended legislation and regulatory guidelines that affect the company’s procedures, policies and process requirements in respect of internal and Regulatory requirements. Monitoring and ensuring legal compliance whilst advising the business and adopting the required changes to internal policies and procedures. Manage any legal disputes or claims, working closely with external counsel when necessary to resolve matters efficiently and cost-effectively. Attending various meetings and ensuring production of high-quality paperwork by preparing the agenda and papers, attending the briefing meetings of the various departments and disseminating the matters arising and required action points, and drafting the minutes. Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts, agreements and other relevant legal documents, ensuring that all terms and conditions are legally sound and protect the company's interests. Including but not limited to managing the legal documents registry and ensuring proper filing and maintenance of the database/registry and conduct checks to ensure it is up to date. Work closely with external legal counsel, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure the company adheres to industry standards and best practices. Assist in the creation and implementation of internal policies and procedures to support compliance and regulatory obligations. Assist in drafting, reviewing, editing and maintaining the Company’s policies, codes of practice, and procedures to enhance accountability, transparency and equity in legal services. Conduct training for internal teams on legal, compliance, and regulatory matters to ensure ongoing awareness and adherence to policies and procedures. Assess legal risks across various business areas and implement strategies to mitigate potential liabilities. Any other duties assigned.
